I was honoured to share the ESD Retrofit Strategies Report with Tony Mordini and Lachlan Gilbert at Melbourne High School last week.
I’m delighted for the opportunity to collaborate with Melbourne High School and Sustainable Built Environments (SBE) through this ESD Academic–Industry Collaboration Project (Pro Bono), developed over the past two months with support from Sean Mcardle.
The goal of this project is to analyse ESD strategies for the Art Building through energy modelling, with the aim of reducing operating costs by helping the buildings run more environmentally and economically.
I enjoyed being involved in conversations that expanded beyond energy efficiency improvements. We discussed how, through interaction with building systems on energy use and occupant behaviour, retrofit buildings can also become part of the teaching and learning experience itself, giving buildings a second life for generations of students to come.
This collaboration has been one of the most meaningful learning experiences during my studies, allowing me to apply my passion to real buildings, real challenges, and real needs. Through this rewarding opportunity, I have been inspired to contribute to more sustainable design projects moving forward.
