Embodied Carbon Assessment and Thermal Assessment Feedback
This week, I continued my work on the aquatic center project following the definition of several wall construction types in Better Building and the completion of the initial thermal assessment report last week. I was given the opportunity to begin working with embodied emissions analysis tool using AusLCI v1.38 as the reference LCI database reference. This tool can be used to estimate greenhouse gas emissions associated with building materials and construction elements over an assumed building life cycle, including emissions from material extraction, manufacturing, transport, replacement, and end -of-life processes. This project equipped me with the skill to assess the entire lifecycle carbon emissions of a project, not just the operational as I usually did and also gave me a valuable insight about the scale of impact that construction phase contributed to the life cycle emissions of a project.
I also attended a project meeting to review the results of the envelope thermal assessment I submitted last week. This meeting discussed any relevant envelope construction update and double check that every envelope complied with J4 DtS as per the result of the assessment.
